Scott heads for the summit of the High Divide Loop.
Tyler & Hillary hit the slopes
A fun engagement photo session while skiing at Stevens Pass.
Peter has an amazing story. He was diagnosed with M.S. 10 years ago. To celebrate his 10 year journey of battling M.S. by learning to steward his body through clean eating and healthy activity - he hiked up the iconic Mt. Pilchuck trail.
First dance memories
Brother-in-law and sister of the groom watches the first dance, remembering her own first dance not too long ago.
After getting the "family photo" we had a blast getting fun photos of Matt and Hannah as well as their precious kids while they were strolling around the University of Washington Botanic Gardens enjoying life on their family fun day.
Snuggled up in the snow
Tyler and Hillary strike a pose while taking a break from skiing lines of deep powder at Stevens Pass.
A walk in the clouds
When I am hiking with Gideon in the mountains and the clouds role in, I always tell him we're walking on clouds. That same thought ran through my mind as my buddy Scott hiked off into the clouds on the High Divide Loop.
Daddy daughter dance
Jonathan is more hipster than mountain man. But I really liked this shot of him I took out in Index Washington when we were doing a fall photo shoot for his awesome family.
At a friends wedding out on Whidbey Island (Washington) we had the fun opportunity to let Gideon pull up a seat at the piano they had out in the lawn. It was a beautiful wedding ceremony that was highlighted by a fantastic sunset just as the ceremony concluded.
During family photo shoots, I like to let the kids go and play and do their thing. It creates fun photo opportunities like this. I love the serious look as he tries to scale this big tree we found in the University of Washington Botanic Gardens.
A walk in the park
Two young children taking a moment to pause and enjoy the fall colors as they walk through the park.
Stuck in a tree
Is he relaxed and hanging out or is he hanging on for dear life. I'm not 100% sure. But I really like this picture I snapped last fall.
Luna in a tree
These kids sure know how to have fun! They also know how to enjoy some down time together, which is key so they can keep charged up for all the fun they have.
Everyone who knows Kimber knows that this little girl runs the Tuttle Circle T Ranch! She's a pistol! I mean that in the fullest and most positive sense.
Little Girl. Big Horse.
The horses know that little Kimber has big attitude and wears the britches! So they do exactly as she says when she leads them around the ranch.
I love how little kids are so bright eyed and curious about life. My kids have been a great reminder to me and have inspired me to aspire to keep living life with lots of curiosity.
Big leaf. Big smile.
I love how little kids find such joy in the most simple of things. While doing a photo shoot of his family, I caught Elias playing with a huge leaf. He was having so much fun. I managed to snap this fun shot of him when I snuck up on him.
Sunset at Edmonds Marina Beach Park
We were blessed with a beautiful sunset while taking engagement photos of Tyler and Hillary.
Sunset in Edmonds
I had a lot of fun capturing these sunset engagement Photos of Tyler and Hillary down at Edmonds Marina Beach Park.
Seattle has so many interesting nooks and crannies. The gum wall is an iconic little spot that I find equal parts fun and confusing. How did putting your gum on a wall turn into a "thing"? Regardless, it was fun to get to shoot this photo of my dear friends Eleazar and Bekah in this iconic Seattle spot.
Down by the river
After a beautiful wedding ceremony hosted at Outdoor Adventures in Index, I had fun shooting candid shots of various members of the wedding party as well as family and friends who attended the wedding. I love this picture of Jared, brother of the groom. I snapped this right after he had his turn trying to throw a rock all the way across the river. It was fun seeing a whole group of men, in their fancy wedding attire, testing their rock throwing skills. It made me laugh as I thought, "boys will be boys!"
Wedding in Index WA
Outdoor Adventures in Index Washington is a great location to host an outdoor summer wedding. The mountains provide a beautiful backdrop and the riverfront property at Outdoor Adventures is a fantastic staging ground. We've enjoyed several fantastic weddings there. Each one has been breathtakingly beautiful and an absolute blast.
First baseball game
This picture brings back some fun memories. Gideon was so excited to get to go to his first baseball game. That is...up until the first batter struck out. He excitedly asked, "My turn?" He was crushed when I told him that we didn't get to play and we only got to watch. His excitement and wonder turned to tears in an instant. So instead of watching the rest of the game we went down to the in-park playground where Gideon played till his heart was content.
Cherry Blossoms at the Botanic Gardens
Shooting in the UW Botanic Gardens when the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom is absolutely beautiful.
Hand in Hand
I love getting pictures of children waking hand in hand with their parents. It's such a simple but special thing. I snagged this picture of my son Gideon with my wife Kami as they strolled through the pumpkin patch at the Farm at Swan's Trail.
Alone in the park
Gideon was holding on to that umbrella all morning as he quietly took in the beautiful sites of the Butchart gardens in Victoria B.C. I love how peaceful and yet curious his expression is. This is one of my favorite photos of Gideon as a little boy.
Jonathan and Sara sitting in a tree...
This was a fun photo shoot with Jonathan, Sara, and their family up in Index Washington. We explored around the woods near the big cliff which serves as a premier climbing wall overlooking the town. We stumbled upon this large tree stump which wasa great spot for some family photos.
Fall family fun
Fall in the Pacific Northwest is amazing. I love getting out with families to enjoy little adventures such as exploring pumpkin patches or one of the beautiful parks around the city. Though my favorite photos are candid shots as the kids are exploring and playing, the beautiful backdrops also make for great family photos.
Boy in a tree
While doing a fall family photo shoot, this young man scurried up a tree providing me a great opportunity to snap a fun photo of him. I love capturing folks as they enjoy adventures in life, little or big. And...seeing him enjoy climbing and playing in the tree was a good reminder that what may seem like a small adventure to one person is a big adventure to another. Therefore we should encourage each other to enjoy adventure in our lives, whatever that may look like.
A walk in the park
Denver enjoys his newfound walking skills as he walks through the park on the freshly fallen fall leaves.
A simple pumpkin patch is a wonderful world to explore for little kids (and let's be honest - for me as an adult too). We love the pumpkin patch at the Farm at Swan's Trail. They've built up so many fun attractions and activities for families to enjoy. A family could spend a full day exploring all they have to do.
This was a beautiful wedding on Whidbey Island. Just after the ceremony they took wedding party pictures as the sun was setting over the Puget Sound. It was such a beautiful setting! My family and I were so blessed to be there celebrating the special occasion with this new bride and groom. I was so excited to get to capture some special photos from this special event.
Gideon looks like he's straight out of Newsies in this fun portrait we did.
Laughter at Sunset
This couple was having so much fun together as we took some sunset photos down at the waters edge of the Puget Sound.
Spring at the Botanic Gardens
Edmonds family photo
Almost every little local park provides a spectacular backdrop for family photos when you live in the Pacific Northwest. This family portrait was taken in the Edmonds City Park. I love the sweet look on little Mikayla's face. She's such a precious little girl.
I was so excited to have the chance to shoot some photos of my friend Myeong and his stud of a baby boy.
I took this photo of my wife Kami when she was full term with our baby boy Denver. I love this shot. The contrasting black and white. The fluid lines. It's a great reminder to me how much my wife flourishes when she's pregnant.
Father and son
I love this photo of my friend Matt and his baby boy's hands stacked on top of each other. It was so much fun doing this photo shoot of their newborn. Those early days with your newborn baby are such special times!
Baby in a blanket
This is a sort of self portrait of me with my second son Denver. I love those early days with a newborn. They are such special days.
My little boy Gideon has had a love for music since his earliest days. As soon as he was big enough to pick up a guitar he began carrying one around the house making up songs and mimicking the worship band from our church. I took this photo on the day that we gave him a mini-guitar which was more his size to play around on. He was so thrilled! He took it outside and spent all afternoon playing made up songs on his new guitar.
Smooch at Smith Rock
During the spring of 2015 we took a trip down to Bend Oregon. We had the pleasure of going out to Smith Rock for some hiking and adventure. It's an indiscribably beauitful spot. I love this shot of Kami as she steals a smooch from Gideon at the overlook.
I love this shot of our friends boy, standing in the park amidst a host of fall leaves. It's such a fun shot of that I snapped at just the right moment of pause amidst a great rumble through the fallen leaves.

Yes, I'm shooting from down low. But little Levi really was soaring above Ethan. I took this fun photo of Levi flying high right after a short hike with my dear friend. We dropped our packs and he began tossing his son in the air. I was floored at how high he was tossing his son, and how much fun his son was having! It was such an unexpected but fun moment.
One of the many fun attractions at the Trail at Swan's Farm is their HUGE trampoline style blob. Gideon, along with about 50 other kids, was having a BLAST jumping around on the big bouncy blob. I would highly encourage any family in the Seattle area to head out there in the fall to enjoy their pumpkin patch and host of fun activities.
Climbing the tires
I've always like this photo of little Gideon. I like how it captures his fun and adventurous spirit as he climbs through the little tunnel of tires.
Mario working his magic
This is a photo of our good friend Mario, at Rudy's Barber Shop on Phinney Ridge, working his magic on little Gideon. I love how it captures so much. Seattle culture...Hipster culture...Coming of age experiences that a young boy faces. The morning was a fun morning for Gideon and I. We left home for "bro time" and got some hot cocoa at a local coffee shop before heading over to get our hair cut by Mario. Gideon was so excited to have "bro time" and to get his hair cut by a real barber (instead of a cut at home by his dad).
Edmonds Fire Station 16 threw the best birthday party a 4 year old has ever experienced. They gave the families and kids a fun tour of the station and taught them all sorts of things about fire safety. It culminated in this fun moment where they dressed the birthday boy up in full firefighter regalia. Another one of life's fleeting moments that brought such great joy. It was such a joy to be there to capture the shier joy on Gideon's face.
A walk on the beach
This was a fun photo of a mom and her two sons (one in a baby carrier on the front) as they walked along Second Beach on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington.
High Divide Loop
This was a fun photo of my buddy Scott is hiking along the High Divide Loop ridge line. I love the old tree in the foreground, the rugged trail, and the sunbeams breaking through near my buddy as he pauses to catch is breath.
A walk in the woods
Little Gideon hikes through the woods on his way down to Second Beach on the Olympic Peninsula.
A little boy enjoys seeing and touching a baby crab. It was so much fun seeing the joy and excitement on the little boy's face as he watched the strange little creature move around in his mothers hand. I love how even simple little things can become such great adventures and life experiences when seen through the lenses of wonder and gratitude.
A hike to the top
I snagged this photo of my buddy Scott just above Heart Lake on the High Divide Loop. It was crazy hiking along the ridge line because there were clouds to the south side of the ridge, over the rain forest, for the entire time we were on the ridge (2 days). But to the north, looking out towards Port Angeles, it was sunny and beautiful. Something about the geography seems to trap the clouds in the valley to the south. I'm guessing that also explains why it's a rain forest to the south side of the High Divide Ridge.
My buddy Eric prepares to rappel another friend up The Tooth. It was such a beautiful day when we hiked up through the early season snow to climb and rappel this classic route near Snoqualmie Pass.
The peak is that way
Eric pointed out a number of known peaks as he and Matt stood on the summit of The Tooth, near Snoqualmie Pass. It was a great day to be out hiking and climbing, early in the winter of 2015.
The rappel down from The Tooth typically takes two or three different rappels. We had made it all the way down and were trying to bring down the ropes when they got snagged. So Eric had to lead climb back up to free the rope so we could taken them down and descend the rest of the route. It gave me a great opportunity to sang this photo of him rappelling this classic route just outside of Seattle Washington.
One of my favorite activities is snow skiing! And I love to ski at Stevens Pass in Washington! I took this photo on Cowboy Ridge, which is the peak overlooking Stevens Pass. My friend is off in the distance and one of the pro patrol guys is front and center. This photo reminds me of so many great adventures dropping in off of Cowboy Ridge. We've had fun dropping down into the resort in snow storms, cloudy days, and days where the sun was beaming like in this photo. It's almost always a good time up on Cowboy Ridge!
I was blessed to get to take photos during a Good Friday service at Sound City Bible Church in 2016. They had a great band leading the congregation through some songs that had both a rich theological meaning and a deep emotional vibe. Pictured here is Pastor Joe Day, as he lead the congregation in a reflective and powerful song.

Pictured here is Jonathan, as he helped lead the congregation in a reflective and powerful song.
I was so excited to be invited to take photos of Matt William & Sean Bennett working on a song that they will be releasing soon. They were recording in the famous London Bridge Studio. It was an honor to get to spend an afternoon in a studio that has produced so many famous albums! I won't be surprised if their music ends up in the halls of fame as yet another famous recording produced at London Bridge Studio.
A sound sound
This is a photo of Matt Williams as he plays with a new tune in the famous London Bridge Studio during a recording session.
I was so excited to be invited by Matt William & Sean Bennett to take photos at the famous London Bridge Studio while they were recording one of their upcoming singles. Pictured here is my friend Aaron Gray who was paying a few instruments for the soundtrack.
Music on the Enterprise
There's a super cool light display at London Bridge Studio that reflects on the glass that looks into the studio. It reminded me of some cool heads up display you would see on the Star-ship Enterprise (I'm not a Star Trek guy...but you have to admit...).
When Sound City Bible Church launched I got to spend a morning running around Seattle with Pastor Joe Day in an effort to capture photos that showed people taking their faith into daily life. This photo showed Pastor Joe enjoying a time of bible study on his tablet device while enjoying a coffee at a well known coffee shop in Seattle.
A job well done
An athlete at Ballard Crossfit takes a moment to catch his breath after pushing himself through a grueling workout at the Crossfit Open.
Joe Day Band
Mother daughter team
I loved how this mom (shown center frame behind the girl lifter) and daughter (girl lifting) were invested in the Crossfit Open together. The mom was so proud of her daughter, who was the only high school aged person to enter the Crossfit Open at Ballard Crossfit. The girl rocked it!
Ballard Crossfit Open
I love this picture from the Ballard Crossfit Open event in 2016. The girl lifting was the only one still going in her heat (she was doing GREAT). The entire gym piled in to watch and cheer her on. Folks were clapping and cheering and spurring her on. It was such a great display of community and support.
